Kite flying, a childhood activity for many, will be re-enacted at Caymanas Park on Easter Sunday, April 24, when Caymanas Track Limited (CTL) and Cal's Manufacturing join hands for an ambitious Kite Festival and Family Fun Day - a first-of-its-kind promotion at the island's only racetrack.

Plans for the day's activities were outlined by representatives of CTL and Cal's Manufacturing on Wednesday at Caymanas Park. The action will get under way on the infield at 10 a.m.

A first prize of $15,000 will be awarded to the person with the highest-flying kite, $10,000 for the biggest kite, $5,000 for the most creative, while a gate prize of a 29-inch flat screen television set will go to a lucky patron.

Admission is $200 for adults, $50 for students with proper identification, while children will be allowed free entry. Part proceeds are in aid of the Gregory Park Primary School.

According to Cal's marketing manager, Sabrina Thomas, there will be giveaways of Cal's products throughout the day, while provision has been made to activate the Kiddies Village, including assorted rides for the children.

"Cal's is a rapidly growing company, especially in Portmore, and we are grateful to be part of this kind of excitement", said Thomas, who was quick to add that Kip Rich, the face of Real Vibes Party Wine, will provide musical entertainment.

Also speaking was Camille Buchanan, acting CEO and a director of CTL. She noted that this was a first for Caymanas Park, and in keeping with the CTL slogan 'The Ultimate Family Entertainment', the event should not only pull fans from Portmore but other parts of the island to Caymanas Park.

"This is not the first time that CTL is partnering with Cal's Manufacturing, but we are very excited about this initiative," she added.

Michael Sibbles, acting marketing director at CTL, said: "When I was a boy, kite flying was an exciting pastime. It was before my time equally exciting and I am sure children today feel the same excitement about flying their kites.

"CTL is particularly pleased to be associated with this family activity, which is the first in a series of projects that are designed to rebrand and reposition the company in the recreation and entertainment industry.

"We will be having a Bingo Party on Saturday, May 7, the day before Mother's Day, and we will be introducing a texting game designed around the racing product and aimed at young people," he disclosed.

About Us

The Cal's manufacturing brand has been unique in the market with a difference in the ingredients in each product. And with more products being manufactured the company expanded and relocated once more to Sagicor Industrial Park on Norman Road where one of their most successful products to date was brought on board and set Cal's on the map locally. This was the introduction of Real Vibes, street wine.
